It’s hard to write about Chris Arnade’s “Faces of Addiction” photo series because I keep getting distracted and drawn in by photos of women like Vanessa, a sex worker and survivor of domestic violence, and Beauty, who has bright neon green pants and hopes to go into childcare because she likes “to make people happy.”

Here’s how Arnade, who has a Ph.D. in physics and was a Wall Street banker for two decades, describes his work:

Finally science has produce evidence that supports what we already knew — the whole “men are from Mars, women are from Venus” trope is false. According to a new study from the University of Rochester, men and women don’t have such distinctpsychological characteristics after all.

What If We Responded To Sexual Assault By Limiting Men’s Freedom Like We Limit Women’s?

In response to claims that men are unable to restrain themselves from committing rape if they see women in skimpy clothing, members of law enforcement agencies around the country have called for men to blindfold themselves when they are in places where they might encounter a female wearing a tank top or a short skirt.
